The ice isnt here yet so get out and do some fall fishing and start getting your ice gear ready!
The cold weather and thin layers of ice on the bays a couple of weeks ago was a great tease! Unfortanetly, ice isnt quite ready to form yet. Dont worry, it wont be long! Until then, get out and do some fall scouting and fishing. We have been out and about on the upper lakes as well as the Wolf River catching quite a few walleyes and recently some very nice perch. There are tons of 8-10" walleyes in the river right now and you have to work a little to get some eaters, but they are there! Along with the walleyes, the perch have been very active this past week and the size is awesome! 10-12" perch have been scattered amongst different channels, bays and up in the Rat River area. small minnows or waxworms in about 3 feet of water is the best way to try for these tasty guys.... The walleyes should get going a little better with the rain and current but like anything else this time of year, its been hit or miss.
The worst part about fall is there is too much to do and not enough time to do it. The Rut is starting and I will be out in the woods trying for a monster white-tail i seen a few weeks back. I am also starting to get my stuff ready for the hardwater season while its still somewhat comforatable outside. We have some great videos up on Critter's site and on Humminbird.com showcasing some new products and the stuff i use while out on the ice. you can take a look at them by clicking on the links below....
